Ashoka the Great (r. 268-232 BCE) was the third king of the Mauryan Empire (322-185 BCE) best known for his renunciation of war, development of the concept of dharma (pious social conduct), and promotion of Buddhism across ancient Asia as well as his effective reign of a nearly pan-Indian political entity. The emblem of the modern Republic of India is an adaptation of the Lion Capital of Ashoka.
Today Ashoka is a Fusion Restaurant symbolizes the traditional curry flavor in the UK with a European twist. Our chefs concoct timeless North Indian dishes; perfect for sharing and exquisite in their mastery of spice and flavor.
